Re-Lax urban furniture
In cooperation with the Port of Koper Ltd. |
The Re-Lax project is a good example of material and product life extension. It consists of an urban bench and a chair. Both structures are made from two different discarded polyester materials that originate from two different service and production companies. One comes in the form of strong cargo belts from the Port of Koper, where they throw away around 22 tonnes of it per year. The other material is nonwoven fabric, known as felt, a waste product from processes at the Filc company, where they dispose of up to 1800 t per year. The felt is already recycled, made from PET bottles. Urban furniture is designed for disassembly. It is completely modular, and each part can be replaced. Both polyesters are durable and have proven to be resistant to any weather conditions. Belts are intertwined and arranged in a special attractive pattern, creating a taut but soft and compact thin seat surface.
